Youth Football Program for Girls coming to Eynesbury!

A girls’ youth football (AFL) program is coming to Eynesbury! Led by Back 2 Basics, an organisation founded by AFLW premiership athletes Jasmine Garner and Ash Riddell, and with support from the Eynesbury Football & Netball Club coaching team, the program will empower young athletes to focus on basic skills, play with confidence and most importantly, have fun whilst playing football.

 

The program is aimed at girls aged 10-16 years old. No minimum skill level is required and the best thing, registrations are just $20 for the full 8-week program!

 

To sweeten the deal, Rotary Eynesbury are putting on a free barbeque dinner after the first session! This exiting program is the perfect opportunity for your child to learn new skills, both sporting and otherwise, whilst making new friends within the Eynesbury community and surrounds.

 

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • SESSION DATES: Wednesdays from 10 June – 5 August (no session on 8 July)
    • The first and last sessions will be delivered by Jasmine and Ash from Back 2 Basics. The remaining 6 sessions will be delivered by Eynesbury Football & Netball Club
  • SESSION TIMES:
    • Session 1 & 8: 6.15pm – 7.15pm
    • Sessions 2-7: 5.30pm – 6.30pm
  • LOCATION: Eynesbury Recreation Reserve – 3 Avoca Street, Eynesbury, 3338
  • COST: $20 per child

Musical Development for Pre-schoolers

Hey Dee Ho are returning to Thornhill Park and Truganina in term 3! With sessions built to engage and dazzle your pre-school toddler, you and your child are in for a fun and exciting morning each week at our ‘Music’ and ‘Sing & Sign’ programs.

 

Music with Hey Dee Ho encourages children to learn the concepts of beat, rhythm, tempo, pitch and dynamics in a play-based environment, whilst Sing & Sign with Hey Dee Ho encourages your child to learn Auslan (Australian Sign Language) through song, dance and play!

 

Both programs are suitable for children aged 0-5 years and at under $10 per session, they’re an affordable way to make memories with your child.

Free Gardening Workshops and Groups

Winter is the perfect time to start thinking about how to get your edible garden in tip top shape for growing season!

 

Throughout July and August, we’re delighted to be bringing you a series of free workshops where you can gain valuable knowledge, practical tips, and confidence to apply what you’ve learned in your own garden. Whether you’re looking to develop edible garden beds, prune your fruit trees to promote growth or even use your home produce for a delicious winter soup, we have something for you!

Free Community Gardening Groups

Melton City Council facilitates two gardening group programs at the Stevenson House and Kurunjang Community Hub, community gardens. Each week, group members come together to grow fresh produce and maintain the gardens surrounding the centres. Learn a variety of gardening skills like propagation, drought and frost resistance, planting for the right season, weed management and loads more in a fun and relaxed format. 

 

The groups are free to attend and run on a term basis. Term 3 2025 begins in late July, however, you can join at any time. Find out more information by clicking the links below.

Free Community Led Workshops

To celebrate National Volunteer Week in 2025 (19-25 May), Melton City Council invited senior community members to express their interest in sharing their talents, wisdom and gifts with other community members. The project has been aptly named the ‘Gifts of Experience Project’. 

 

As a result of the community call out, you can now browse and book into several free workshops across the municipality including painting, Sudoku, fondant flower making, even an afternoon in-conversation session with a Hey Hey It’s Saturday! alumni!

Neighbourhood House Week 2025

Melton City Council is celebrating Neighbourhood House Week (NHW) from 13-18 May! NHW, an initiative of Neighbourhood Houses Victoria, is an annual national celebration, recognising the important contribution over 1,000 Neighbourhood Houses make in local communities across Australia.

 

In the City of Melton alone, 7 neighbourhood houses operate alongside our other community centre locations, bringing people together to connect, learn and contribute to our local community through social, educational, recreational and support activities.
