Council is thrilled to have Holly from Holly’s Backyard Bees join us for Neighbourhood House Week in 2025!
In this exciting experience, children will observe a beehive where they will learn about bee colonies, gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of these buzzy creatures. Then, its dress up time! Children will have the opportunity to try on specially sized suits and veils to experience equipment used by beekeepers.
No exploration of bees is complete without tasting honey! Children will sample different varieties, learning about its production and the crucial role bees play in its creation.
Preschoolers will engage in sensory activities exploring honey and beeswax, while primary age children delve into detailed topics such as the ecological importance of bees in pollination and environmental sustainability.
Suitable for children aged 6-12 years. Parental supervision is required for the duration of the session.
