Youth Football Program for Girls coming to Eynesbury!

A girls’ youth football (AFL) program is coming to Eynesbury! Led by Back 2 Basics, an organisation founded by AFLW premiership athletes Jasmine Garner and Ash Riddell, and with support from the Eynesbury Football & Netball Club coaching team, the program will empower young athletes to focus on basic skills, play with confidence and most importantly, have fun whilst playing football.

 

The program is aimed at girls aged 10-16 years old. No minimum skill level is required and the best thing, registrations are just $20 for the full 8-week program!

 

To sweeten the deal, Rotary Eynesbury are putting on a free barbeque dinner after the first session! This exiting program is the perfect opportunity for your child to learn new skills, both sporting and otherwise, whilst making new friends within the Eynesbury community and surrounds.

 

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • SESSION DATES: Wednesdays from 10 June – 5 August (no session on 8 July)
    • The first and last sessions will be delivered by Jasmine and Ash from Back 2 Basics. The remaining 6 sessions will be delivered by Eynesbury Football & Netball Club
  • SESSION TIMES:
    • Session 1 & 8: 6.15pm – 7.15pm
    • Sessions 2-7: 5.30pm – 6.30pm

Neighbourhood House Week Scavenger Hunt

Get ready to explore your local community! To celebrate Neighbourhood House Week, Neighbourhood Houses in the City of Melton are hosting an exciting scavenger hunt competition! Collect a gameboard from your closest registered Neighbourhood House and complete the activities for your chance to win a share in $380 worth of prizes! 

 

How to Play 

Pick up a scavenger hunt gameboard between 1pm – 4.30pm from Monday 11 May – Friday 15 May. Complete each challenge on the gameboard before returning it to the staff at your closest location before 4.30pm on Friday 15 May. 

 

Prizes 

The first 10 participants to complete their gameboard and return it will receive a special showbag! Each completed gameboard will also give you an entry into the major prize draw where you will have the chance to win 1 of 3 great prizes! 

  • 1st prize: $100 Coles voucher and $50 Melton Learning Directory credit 
  • 2nd prize: $80 Coles voucher and $50 Melton Learning Directory credit 
  • 3rd prize: $50 Coles voucher and $50 Melton Learning Directory credit

Kindergarten Readiness Month – Parent Information Sessions

March is Kindergarten Readiness Month! Council’s Early Childhood Team is hosting information sessions to help families register their children for three- and four-year-old kindergarten.

 

You’ll learn about the many benefits of kindergarten for your child’s learning, development and social confidence, understand how many hours of free kindergarten your family may be eligible for, and receive clear guidance on how and when to register.

 

Families will also be supported with practical information about key registration timelines, what to expect once you’ve applied, and the assistance available if you need extra help during the enrolment process.

Atherstone Traffic School Family Fun Days

Melton City Council is thrilled to invite local children and their families to a series of Family Fun Days at the Atherstone Traffic School throughout November!

 

Join us for a fun-filled day of skill building and free food and activities for the whole family! Both events will feature:

  • Free wood-fire pizza
  • Free coffee
  • Free face painting
  • Free smoothie bike competitions
  • Free kids’ painting workshop
  • Free bike servicing, plus bike riding and maintenance education!

Expression of Interest – Little Legends, Terrific Talent Show

Expressions of Interest have now closed.

 

Melton City Council is inviting children aged 5-12 years from across the municipality to share their talents at our ‘Little Legends, Terrific Talent’ show in celebration of Children’s Week 2025! Event details
  • Date: Friday 24 October 2025

    • Show begins 5pm
  • Location: Plumpton Community Centre – 19 Pear Parade, Fraser Rise, 3336
This non-competitive event is all about celebrating young community members and the many talents that bring them joy to perform. Whether your child/ren love to sing, dance, tell jokes, play an instrument, perform magic tricks, or something else entirely – this is their moment to share their unique skills and talents with the local community.
 
Little Legends, Terrific Talent is open to children aged 5-12 years who reside in the City of Melton. Single or group performances are welcome. Performances should be fun, respectful, and suitable for a general audience, including younger children.
 
If your child/ren is interested in participating, please complete the following form. Expressions of interest close: Sunday 21 September 2025.
 
Please note that parents/guardians are required to be onsite for the entirety of the event. Child supervision is required at all times.
 
Little Legends, Terrific Talent is not a competition, prizes will not be given for individual performances, however, each performer will receive a certificate of participation.

Musical Development for Pre-schoolers

Hey Dee Ho are returning to Thornhill Park and Truganina in term 3! With sessions built to engage and dazzle your pre-school toddler, you and your child are in for a fun and exciting morning each week at our ‘Music’ and ‘Sing & Sign’ programs.

 

‘Music with Hey Dee Ho‘ encourages children to learn the concepts of beat, rhythm, tempo, pitch and dynamics in a play-based environment, whilst ‘Sing & Sign with Hey Dee Ho‘ encourages your child to learn Auslan (Australian Sign Language) through song, dance and play!

 

Both programs are suitable for children aged 0-5 years and at under $10 per session, they’re an affordable way to make memories with your child.
