Unpaid Carer Support Group and Information Sessions

Are you an unpaid carer looking for support? Do you look after a family member or friend with disability, a medical condition, mental illness, who is frail due to age or has an alcohol or other drug problem?

 

Melton City Council invite you to join us at our new fortnightly support group sessions and/or a special ‘Carer Gateway Service’ information session. Both sessions are facilitated by a Community Engagement Advisor from Merri Health who are best placed to keep you informed and supported on your caring journey.

Melton Learning Directory website has re-launched!

Council is pleased to let you know that the Melton Learning Directory website has re-launched today! We are elated to bring you this new and improved platform making it even easier to find and book into local learning programs, social activities, special events and so much more.

  • Easy browsing of available programs with intuitive filtering by things like age, price, location and more
  • Streamlined ticket purchasing
  • Addition of accessibility icons for locations and programs making it easy to plan your visit, plus so much more

 

NEW BRAND DESIGN AND WEBSITE URL

You’ll also notice a new look and feel to the Melton Learning Directory brand across our website, social media, eDM and printed collateral in community centres, bringing this important sub-brand of Council into the modern age. We’ve also made the switch to a new URL: meltonlearning.vic.gov.au, further strengthening our connection as a local government initiative. Redirections are in place if you happen to click on an old website link so never fear, you’ll always make it back to the new website destination.

 

EXISTING WEBSITE ACCOUNTS

If you have an active account on our old website, these details will have been carried over to the new website including your login details, however, if you previously had other participants added to your account (e.g. children and other family members), these will need to be added in again. Don’t forget that you need to be logged in and your account details need to be up to date and all fields filled out before you can make a purchase. 2024 City of Melton Learning Festival

Council is celebrating wonder, curiosity, fun, knowledge and learning at the 2024 City of Melton Learning Festival! From 31 August – 7 September you can participate in an exciting range of workshops and activities across Council’s libraries and community centres, for free! 

Get creative in our nature printing workshop, discover the best way to build your veggie garden, learn the traditional indigenous basket weaving technique and so much more.  

Join us to discover a new skill or passion whilst connecting with others in your local area.

Nature Printing with Gel Pads – BOOKED OUT

Discover the art of mono printing using nature and gel pads in our engaging workshop. This eco-friendly creative process explores the textures and shapes of leaves, flowers, and other natural elements. You’ll be guided through the steps of creating stunning, one-of-a-kind prints that capture the beauty of the outdoors.  

The Sustainable Kitchen – Zero Waste Recipes – BOOKED OUT

  • TIME: 11.30am – 1.30pm 
  • VENUE: Diggers Rest Sport & Community Pavilion, Diggers Rest

Learn how you can reduce waste in your kitchen and save money in this hands-on cooking workshop. Working in small groups, our passionate and experienced facilitator will guide you to create zero waste recipes which can be used to prepare quick, easy and delicious weeknight dinners. All equipment and ingredients will be provided. Free cookbook for all attendees. Limited spaces available.

Powerful Pollinators 

  • TIME: 2pm – 3pm

Little Sprouts Program are here to engage your child in their interactive, play-based, fun and inspiring sustainability education session! Over 60 minutes your child will discover what pollination is, a range of important local pollinator animal species, why we need pollinators, how we can help pollinators. They’ll also make pollinator friendly seed balls to take home, to help grow pollinator plants.

Tuesday 3 September 

Sauerkraut Demonstration – BOOKED OUT

Did you know fermented foods can provide health benefits when consumed regularly? Join us for an exciting demonstration to discover how to prepare a batch of your own fermented cabbage, called sauerkraut! All attendees will take home their own fermentation kit. How to Grow a Successful Veggie Garden – BOOKED OUT

Traditional Basket Weaving – BOOKED OUT

Join Samantha Bennett, a proud Bunurong/Boonwurrung and Wiradjuri woman, as she guides you through the traditional art of basket weaving. Connect with traditional practices and create beautiful, meaningful art. Using natural elements, you will learn how to craft baskets utilising unique techniques that intertwine the natural elements and stories of Samantha’s culture.

NEW Art Therapy for Kids, Adults & Seniors

After a successful launch in term 2, our popular art therapy for children, adults and seniors are returning to Hillside and Strathtulloh in term 3.

Different from a regular art class, Art Therapy focuses on empowering participants to unpack and express their feelings through creativity.

This small group program is facilitated by a qualified Art Therapist, offering a range of materials and art themes.
