Call-out for community groups to get involved in Melton Town Centre Christmas activities!

Melton City Council would like to invite our local community groups, organisations and schools to submit their expressions of interest to perform live at the Amphitheatre during the lead up to Christmas. See below for further details.

What are we looking for? Local groups to offer a Christmas related performance at the Melton Amphitheatre. This could be through music, dance or performing arts. We will be running some children’s activities alongside this so it must be suitable and engaging for all ages.

When is it? Saturday 3, 10 and 17 December from 10am – 1pm. You would not have to remain for the entire 3 hours, depending on interest and set length we may schedule multiple performances during this time frame.

What do we need to bring? You will need to supply all of your own equipment. 10amp power is available at the Amphitheatre which should suit most audio set-ups. If it is a warm day please be sure to bring your own water, hat and sunscreen.

What’s in it for me? This is a paid opportunity. You will need to provide Council with a quote of how much you will charge for your set/performance with details of set length and preferred times. If you have an ABN you can invoice Council for the payment. If you do not have an ABN you can nominate your preferred local supplier to receive a gift voucher from in lieu of an invoice.

So how does my group submit their interest? Simply send an email to raynab@melton.vic.gov.au with your contact details, performance information and quote before Wednesday 16 November and someone will be in touch to confirm or discuss. Please note that submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee that your group will be approved to perform.

6pm: Minions: The Rise of Gru | Rated PG

In the 1970s, young Gru tries to join a group of supervillains called the Vicious 6 after they oust their leader — the legendary fighter Wild Knuckles. When the interview turns disastrous, Gru and his Minions go on the run with the Vicious 6 hot on their tails. Luckily, he finds an unlikely source for guidance — Wild Knuckles himself — and soon discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.

8.20pm: Elf | Rated G

Buddy (Will Ferrell) was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father. As it happens, this is Walter Hobbs (James Caan), a cynical businessman. After a DNA test proves this, Walter reluctantly attempts to start a relationship with the childlike Buddy with increasingly chaotic results.
