2022 International Women’s Day Competition

To celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), not only do we have a full suite of free events and activities on offer from 5 March, we’re also giving you the chance to win!

The theme for this year’s IWD is #BreaktheBias. Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field.

For your chance to win, show us what a City of Melton free of gender bias looks like to you. You can show us by drawing a picture, recording a video, taking a photo, writing a paragraph, whatever takes your fancy!

Anyone who resides in the City of Melton can enter, no matter your age or gender.

Three prizes are up for grabs across three different age groups including:

  • 18 years and over: 1 x $50 voucher to a local business
  • 12-17 years: 1 x $50 voucher to a local business
  • up to 11 years: children’s craft pack worth $50

To enter, fill out the form found on this page.

Entries close 5pm Wednesday 9 March. Winners will be notified via email on Thursday 10 March.

Celebrate International Women’s Day in 2022!

Melton City Council are pleased to be celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) once again in 2022.

This important annual event takes place each year on March 8 and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

The theme for IWD in 2022 is #BreaktheBias. Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field. Join teams from across Council as we learn about and challenge those biases we and others may have and/or experience.

Our program of events starts Saturday 7 March. Joining us will be authors Akuch Kuol Anyieth, Demet Divaroren and Olivia Omotosho plus you’ll have an opportunity to participate in a Karate workshop, yoga class, STEAM workshop, Zumba class, job readiness workshop plus much more!
