Free Accredited Training for Women

The Women in Business and Entrepreneurship Project is offering women within the City of Melton the opportunity to participate in a variety of free workshops and training opportunities that support local women led businesses and entrepreneurs to start, grow, connect and thrive.

As part of the project we are offering two free accredited training opportunities to boost your employability in the hospitality industry.

Complete a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or a Safe Food Handling course over 6 hours (different days), or, complete both!

Kindergarten Readiness Month

Prepare your child for the transition to Kindergarten at a series of open days and information sessions.

Kindergarten Open Week

Kindergarten registrations open Wednesday 20 March 2024. Come along and explore your local kindergarten with your child at scheduled open day sessions. Meet teachers, asks questions and gather information to help inform your decision in which kindergarten to enrol your child.

Women in Business and Entrepreneurship Project

The pop up café is open Monday – Friday from 8.30am – 3.30pm and is serving coffee, tea, hot chocolate, smoothies, sweets, toasties and more!

About YouthGrounds

YouthGrounds is a training program, led by Future Connect, whereby 12 young people will complete a 10-week hospitality and work readiness program. The program covers a wide range of essential areas, including barista skills, interview techniques, networking strategies, effective communication, resume building, teamwork, employee rights, financial management, and more.

2023 City of Melton Christmas Lights Competition

To celebrate the upcoming festive season, we’re giving you the chance to share in $900 worth of prizes by decorating your house with festive light displays!

To enter, simply submit a photo of your house beautifully decorated under any of the following competition categories.

  • Most TRADITIONAL Light Display
  • Most COLOURFUL Light Display
  • Most ENERGY EFFICIENT Light Display

You can enter any or all categories you think apply to your festive display. Submissions can be made via the form on this webpage.

Submitted entries will be judged by a competition panel and a winner selected for each category. Each winner will receive a $250 voucher to a local restaurant to enjoy a meal with family and friends and each runner up will win a $50 Bunnings Warehouse voucher. Competition open to City of Melton residents only.

  • Competition opens 9am Monday 27 November.
  • Competition closes 5pm Friday 15 December.
  • Winners will be notified by Tuesday 19 December.
Christmas Light Safety

Each year Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) responds to electrical incidents caused by faulty or non-compliant electrical equipment, including Christmas lights and decorations.
