Format and Duration

This program consists of 6 sessions held on the following Saturdays: 14 March, 28 March, 9 May, 23 May, 13 June, and 20 June. Enrolments are welcome at any time during the program. We recommend joining all sessions to gain the most out of this training!


Each session runs for 7 hours. Lunch will be provided along with appropriate breaks.

Are you a local volunteer or community advocate looking to make real change where you live?

Learn how to step into a community leadership role and equip yourself with crucial leadership and advocacy skills to confidently engage, organise, and create positive change in your community. Over 6 sessions, you’ll be exposed to several important topics including effective communication styles, team building techniques, problem-solving, ethics and more.

No prior experience required — just a desire to make a difference.

  • ✔ Open to all community members
  • ✔ No leadership experience required
  • ✔ Practical, real-world skills
  • ✔ Network with other community leaders
  • ✔ Certificate of attendance
Session topics will include:
  1. Introduction to Volunteerism and Community Engagement
  2. Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  3. Leadership and Team Building
  4. Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
  5. Planning and Organisational Skills
  6. Ethics, Safety, and Well-being
Location:
  • Sessions 1-4 will be held at Mt Atkinson Children’s & Community Centre, 160 Clara Ave, Truganina, 3029.
  • Sessions 5 & 6 will be held at Plumpton Community Centre, 19 Pear Parade, Fraser Rise 3336.
Lunch provided

Each session in this series runs for 7 hours. Catering will be provided for lunch, please advise of any dietary requirements when making a booking. Please also remember to bring along additional snacks and a water bottle.
