Details
Join us for a natural journaling session to commemorate National Tree Day.
Facilitated by Nothing Like Nature, we’ll be turning our attention to the beautiful River Red Gums that line the Toolern Creek in Hannah Watts Park.
Nature sketching or journaling is about observing something in nature, and capturing details on a page through drawing, writing and more. The session will use a combination of science, creativity and mindfulness to explore the River Red Gum and surrounding environment. It is designed for you to be present and mindful in nature, and your pages can be as creative or as science-based as you prefer.
As part of the session, we will:
- Start with a guided nature-based mindfulness practice to awaken our senses
- Warm up with some different techniques and template options
- Capture your experience on the page with writing, drawing or both
- Write a love letter to a tree
Please note there will be some sitting required. This may be on the ground (mats provided or perched on something we find in the area), or if you prefer you could bring along a camping chair.
At the end of the session, you can expect to know more about our beautiful Australian eucalypts, feel more connected to nature and yourself, feel more creative and have explored different ways of capturing nature on your pages.
What do I need to know/bring?
