These workshops are a collaboration between Melton City Council and funded by the Victorian Government Safe, Respected and Free From Violence Prevention Grant. Both sessions are facilitated by Level Playground FVREE.

This is a series of 2 professional development workshops for Early Childhood Educators working and living within the City of Melton.

TOPICS

Workshop 1: Wednesday 21 May – 6.30pm – 7.30pm

Breaking Down Gender Stereotypes and Promoting Gender Equity

  • An introduction to gender stereotypes and the impact on early years.
  • Learn practical strategies to create more inclusive, respectful, and equitable environments.
  • Explore how books, play, and language can reinforce or challenge gender stereotypes, as well as ways to engage parents and caregivers in conversations about gender equity and respectful relationships.

Workshop 2: Wednesday 28 May – 6.30pm – 7.30pm

Body Safety Education and Consent

  • Overview of body safety education and consent, equipping educators and professionals with foundational knowledge and tools to introduce these important concepts to children in age-appropriate ways.
  • Participants will be introduced to the 10 essential body safety skills, learn how to respond to disclosures, and explore key resources to support their work.

COST

Free with Limited position availability, please note:

  • Participants will receive the post-workshop handout with key information, links and resources
  • Participants must complete a post-workshop survey
  • AEL program will offer the ‘Gender Equity Resource Kits’ as part of the PD opportunity to access by ECEC services after completion of workshops.
